Astigmatism

Diagnosis and treatment

Astigmatism is a defect in the refraction of the eye due to an alteration in the curvature of the cornea or lens. If the cornea or lens does not have a uniform curvature, the rays of light entering the eye are not refracted correctly, resulting in blurred or distorted vision regardless of the distance of the object.

Astigmatism can be corrected by wearing glasses, contact lenses or by surgery.

Among the surgeries that exist for the treatment of astigmatism are corrective laser surgery (LASIK, PRK / LASEK).

Through a complete ophthalmologic exam you can assess and determine which is the best treatment for you.
