Hyperopia
Diagnosis and treatment
Hyperopia is a defect in the refraction of the eye that generally produces blurred vision of nearby objects.
Hypermetropia is due to the fact that the image is focused behind the retina, either because the eye is shorter than normal, or because the cornea has a lower than normal optical power.
The main symptom of farsightedness is that the patient sees nearby objects blurred. Other frequent symptoms are headache, eye irritation, eyestrain.
Hyperopia can be corrected by wearing glasses, contact lenses or surgery.
Among the surgeries that exist for the treatment of farsightedness are corrective laser surgery (LASIK, PRK / LASEK) or implantation of an intraocular lens (ICL).
Through a complete ophthalmologic exam you can assess and determine which is the best treatment for you.
